English: A U.S. Navy Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II (BuNo 159999) of Attack Squadron 72 (VA-72) "Blue Hawks" heads for its target in Iraq during operation "Desert Storm" on 26 February 1991. VA-72 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) for a deployment to the Indian Ocean from 15 August 1990 to 28 March 1991. The Corsair is armed with eight 227 kg (500 lbs) Mk 82 Snakeeye retarded bombs and AIM-9L Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. |
